Oliver Distler, MD, is professor of rheumatology and director of the Department of Rheumatology and the Center of Experimental Rheumatology at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. His main research interest is systemic sclerosis, particularly the molecular mechanisms leading to microvascular lesions, the biological action of pro-fibrotic mediators, validation of biomarkers, and design of proof-of-concept and phase II/III trials. He has been a board member of several academic initiatives including the Scleroderma Clinical Trial Consortium and the European Scleroderma Trials and Research group (EUSTAR).
