Hannah Brinsden, Director of Policy and Programmes, World Obesity Federation
Hannah, has been working at World Obesity since 2012, contributing to the policy, advocacy and public affairs work of the organisation. She leads World Obesity's engagement with high-profile policy stakeholders, including the WHO, and directs efforts to inform and shape global obesity policy. Hannah is responsible for synthesising new and existing evidence to inform briefings, positions and publications related to obesity. She is also the main point person for the EU funded project portfolio, which currently includes the STOP and COCREATE projects. As Director of Policy and Programmes, Hannah plays a key role in building connections across the organisation and identifying ways to advance action and create impact through cross-cutting activities.
Hannah has over 10 years’ experience working in national and international NGOs, advocating for healthier systems to improve population health. She is a Registered Public Health Nutritionist, holds a BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Food Science from The University of Reading and a PhD in Food Policy from City University, London. Hannah’s key interests include childhood obesity, nutrition and the commercial determinants of health. Her PhD explored the role and impact of civil society advocacy in policy development and change, the findings of which inform Hannah's thinking when developing strategies and workplans to advance the policy priorities of the organisation.
