Naveed Sattar is Professor of Cardiometabolic Medicine at the University of Glasgow’s School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health and an Honorary Consultant at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He graduated in medicine from Glasgow in 1990 and was awarded his PhD in 1998. His research addresses the causes, prediction, prevention and treatment of diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease, and he has contributed to major trials of newer diabetes and weight-loss therapies. An ISI Highly Cited Researcher and Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and the Royal Society of Edinburgh, he chairs the UK Government’s Obesity Mission.
