Professor Dianna Magliano holds a PhD in Molecular Virology and a Masters of Public Health, retraining in epidemiology in 2001 before specialising in diabetes epidemiology in 2005. She has strong biostatistical skills in large dataset analysis, serving as lead epidemiologist and data custodian on AusDiab since 2005. Her research spans diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and epidemiological modelling. She is a key player in the linkage of large administrative datasets in Australia, including the National Diabetes Service Scheme (1.8 million people). She chairs the IDF Diabetes Atlas Committee and leads GloboDiab across 23 international data centres, mapping global diabetes incidence, prevalence, and mortality. She is chief investigator of the Prediction study, recruiting people with young adult-onset type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and heads the Baker Diabetes Program.
