Simon Griffin is Professor of General Practice at the University of Cambridge and a Group Leader in the MRC Epidemiology Unit and Primary Care Unit. He trained in clinical epidemiology and public health before joining Cambridge in 1998. His research translates epidemiological evidence into action to prevent non-communicable diseases including diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease and cancer. He published the first diabetes risk score and the first trial of screening for type 2 diabetes, and has led over 30 trials and authored more than 350 publications. He is an NIHR Senior Investigator and Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.
