Jianhong Wu is an applied mathematician, the founding Director of the Laboratory for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and the inaugural director of the York Emergency Mitigation, Engagement, Response, and Governance Institute (Y-EMERGE) at York University. He is recognized for his expertise and contribution in the following fields: nonlinear dynamics and bifurcation (scenario analysis); neural networks and pattern recognition; mathematical ecology and epidemiology; big data analytics. He is particularly recognized for his roles in coordinating interdisciplinary collaboration to develop mathematical and AI technologies to support decision making during a public health crisis.
